What we heard:
A sports fitness company in Austin, TX built custom heartrate monitors for high school students in gym classes. They needed a system to move data from the heartrate monitors to the web, and format that data in a way that teachers and students could use it constructively.
It was very important the system moved students through getting and returning the monitors quickly (30 students in 5-10 minutes), and that the software was “mischief-proof”.
What we did:
Using paper mockups, we built and tested an application to checkout and return monitors. From that, we designed desktop software to scan data from heart rate monitors.
Once we had the heart rate data, we uploaded it to a custom Drupal website using a REST web server. From there, we were able to graph this data in a meaningful way for students and teachers to evaluate.
